|Description:||MFA is seeking a full-time Health and Safety Specialist to work for our Portland, Oregon office. We are growing our health and safety services, particularly in the areas of process safety management and program development. The ideal candidate will have experience in many of the following areas of health and safety consulting: process safety management, particularly for ammonia refrigeration facilities, development of OSHA-required programs, such as emergency planning, lockout tagout, confined space, and respiratory protection, and health and safety training development / delivery. Experience with industrial hygiene and chemical exposure monitoring is also desirable.|
|Duties:||The successful candidate will work with clients to develop user-friendly, site-specific programs that can simultaneously comply with regulatory requirements and incorporate options to maximize efficiency. Up to 20% of job duties may involve physical demands and require travel to mining sites in remote areas. |
Physical Demands: This position typically involves light physical duties, with occasional activities including, but not limited to, lifting, use of respiratory equipment and other protective gear, traversing rough terrain and transporting equipment various distances. The position also involves extended periods of sitting or standing. The position generally requires a minimum of 40 hours per week with extended hours required during peak demand periods.
|Qualifications:||• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in science or related field|
• 0.5 - 5 years of experience in health and safety program development
• Meeting facilitation experience
• Sound technical capabilities and organizational and problem-solving skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred
