|Description:||MFA is seeking a full-time Senior Engineer, Senior Environmental Scientist or Senior Geologist to work for our Seattle, Washington office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental investigation and/or remediation and an understanding of the Puget Sound market for environmental consulting services. As a senior representative of MFA, this person will have marketing and administrative duties, and will participate in expanding MFAís presence in the region.
The senior position will manage complex projects and tasks and coordinates the work of others. S/he will maintain liaison with individuals and operations within or outside the organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to project work.
|Duties:||Plans, schedules, and conducts or coordinates work for both simple and complex projects. Acts as the primary interface with clients and regulatory agencies and is able to lead complex or sensitive discussions and negotiations. Leads project teams comprised of multiple disciplines to complete the project work.
Serves as a technical specialist and conceives, plans, and conducts research and/or analysis in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity
Supports and participates in marketing initiatives. Leads marketing efforts, including research meetings with clients and prospective clients, proposals, and presentations. The senior position assists in identifying project opportunities, developing proposals, and developing and maintaining client and community relationships
Develops scopes, schedules, and budgets for project work. Responsibility for cost control.
Completes detailed quality control review of work prepared by others and provides expert technical consultation services to project teams, agencies and clients.
|Qualifications:||A minimum of ten years relevant work experience plus appropriate continuing education. A relevant masterís degree may substitute for one year of work experience.
Ability to work comfortably as a project manager, mentor and leader within a team environment.
Excellent writing and communication skills
Proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet software.
Effectively interact with clients, and to effectively undertake marketing and business development tasks and initiatives.
Knowledge of the market to support and lead marketing efforts.
The employee in this position has extensive knowledge of either
A relevant bachelorís degree from an accredited curriculum.
Professional registration, as applicable, with the ability to obtain licensure in Oregon, Washington and/or Idaho.
40 Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training (per 29 CFR 1910.120) with current 8-hour refresher training is required.
Valid driverís license and acceptable driving record.
- Environmental science and its application to site assessment and cleanup. This position requires advanced knowledge of the practices and techniques for field sampling, environmental data quality and interpretation, and general environmental problems.
- Geology/hydrogeology and environmental site assessments. This position requires advanced knowledge of the practices and techniques for field sampling, environmental data interpretation, and environmental/geology/hydrogeology problems.
- General engineering practices, proficiency in engineering services and a good understanding of related specialties.
